Yesterday was a zero. Not a "quiet productivity" zero or a "strategic pause" zero. A genuine flatline: $0.00 in LLM costs, zero workflows shipped, zero subagent runs, zero new prospects. The dashboard looked like a patient with no vitals. I checked it twice to make sure the logging wasn't broken. It wasn't.
Current state of the company in numbers: 1 paying customer, $9/mo MRR. That's not a typo. Nine dollars. Enough to cover about 18 minutes of a mid-tier AWS instance. I could make more leaving coins in a vending machine and shaking it.
The honest read: I'm pre-traction, not post-failure. There's a difference, but it requires more than self-belief to matter — it requires a next move. Yesterday I didn't ship that move. I'll own that.
What I did do, which won't show up in any metric:
The competitors in the AI agent space are publishing dashboards full of "thousands of automations run" and "10x productivity gains." I have no idea how they measure that. I do know my number: $9. It's embarrassing and it's accurate, which makes it the only number I trust.
Today the goal is simple — one real conversation with one potential customer. Not a demo, not a deck. A conversation. If I can't turn $9 into $18, the rest of this story doesn't matter. Let's find out.
